The European Union has postponed the implementation of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) until 2024. Before that, it was scheduled to be introduced in the fall of 2023.
Travelers from visa-free countries, including Georgia, visiting Europe from 2024 will need to obtain a travel permit before departure. The application must be completed online before their departure.
All travelers, regardless of age, are required to obtain an ETIAS. The authorization will be valid for 3 years or until the passport expires. Tourists will have to pay 7 euros for travel authorization every three years.
ETIAS is being introduced in response to the growing terrorist threat in Europe, with the aim of strengthening border controls and checks before all visitors arrive.
